Give It Heaps Ltd. 2012 - 2018

Give It Heaps Ltd. was founded in 2012 by late my husband and I when we moved our design and art careers, along with our two year old son Maximilian, from New York to New Zealand. It was an exciting time. We opened a studio and built a house in Auckland, building a new life in a new land.

I began keeping a blog when we arrived, writing about our experiences living and working in New Zealand. It was a place to keep in touch with colleagues, family and friends around the world. In 2016, our life took a sudden turn and the blog became a place for the us to communicate Aaron’s battle with brain cancer through to his death in December 2017.

Filled with Aarons music and design, my photography and artwork, all the while tracking Maximilian’s transformation from New York City baby to barefoot Kiwi boy, the Give It Heaps blog became an archive, a family album, and memorial to Aaron. http://giveitheaps.tumblr.com

Much to my surprise, life carried on after we lost Aaron. The blog did not. It was too hard. For years people have asked if I might start again, but the answer has been a firm no. Until now.

Our family, our new family, is about to undertake a commute for two years – between New Zealand to Minnesota – so that two year old Kiwi boy, about to turn 16, can build his new life in a new land as an American teenager.
